- GENERAL USES
TO IMPROVE THE PROPERTIES OF FM INK
INTRODUCTIONS
There is the possibility that the ink is flowed by the heat of resin during moulding process. There are 2 ways to with this problem :
- Add additive JA-E111.
- Increase the curing temperature and expand the curing time.
To improve curability makes ink film durable and that resulted in the improvement of adhesion, heat resistance and solvent resistance.
Comparative date of solvent resistance of above mentioned 2 ways are as follows.
Learning the improvement of solvent resistance leads to learning the heat resistance.
1. JA-E111 is added
The below table shows that solvent resistance is improved when JA-E111 is added by 2% and 4% to the mixture of FM INK 3101 and FM HARDENER (15%). Curing conditions are for 20 minutes at 80°C(176°F).
2% addition doubles solvent resistance and 4% addition triples solvent resistance.
Pot life (how long the mixture can be used) is shortened because JA-E111 makes the reaction of ink and hardener faster. (Please refer to the table below.)
JA-E111 adding amount | Solvent resistance | Pot life (25°C) (77°F) |
|
---|---|---|---|
Xylene | MIBK | ||
No addition | Peeled off after approx.30 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx.5 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | approx. 24 hours |
2 % | Peeled off after approx.50 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx.12 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | approx. 16 hours |
4 % | Peeled off after approx.80 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx.18 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | approx. 8 hours |
2. Curing temperature and time
The below table shows that solvent resistance of FM INK 3101 (White), which is added with FM HARDENER (15%) and added JA-E111 (2 %), is changed depending on the curing temperature at 70°C(158°F) and 80°C(176°F) respectively. The longer curing time is, the better solvent resistance is.
Temp. | Time | xylene | MIBK |
---|---|---|---|
70 °C (158°F) | 20 minutes | Peeled off after approx. 20 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx. 4 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze |
40 minutes | Peeled off after approx. 45 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx. 13 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | |
80 °C (176°F) | 20 minutes | Peeled off after approx. 50 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx. 12 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze |
40 minutes | Peeled off after approx. 135 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze | Peeled off after approx. 35 double rubs with thinner-soaked-gaze |
