TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Screen printing is used for various kinds and shapes of the materials. Wide range of applications and requirements are required of screen printing inks. There are many kinds of screen printing inks to cover such diversified requirements.

The followings show how the products work, how to use and how to solve the problems. These are the result of our achievement and know-how gained by our endeavour.

  • LIGHTFASTNESS CHART

PRECAUTIONS OF LIGHTFASTNESS CHART

INTRODUCTIONS

Lightfastness data of each ink series are listed in this literature. Please refer to the following precautions before use.

Criteira

Grade Estimation Approx. exposure limit
8th Extremely Excellent >2 years (2-3 years)
7th Excellent <2 years(1-2 years)
6th Very Good <1 year(6 months – 1 year)
5th Good <6 months (4-6 months)
4th Average <4 months (2-4 months)
3rd Inferior <2 months (1-2 months)
2nd Poor <1 month (2 weeks – 1 month)
X Bad <2 weeks (1- 2 weeks)
  1. Lightfastness remarkably varies according to the thickness of ink film and under what conditions printed matters are used. The grade of lightfastness is obtained by the test in which we exposed the printed matter at the angle of 45 degrees to the south at our laboratory(Hanyu City, Saitama Pref. JAPAN). They are not guarantee grades.
  2. Exposure limit is shortened in the summer time or in the place where sunshine is strong.
  3. Data were gained from standard colors that are printed under ordinary conditions. The lightfastness of pale colors and the ink printed with finer meshes are inferior to the above mentioned grades. The performances of pale colors and matched colors are much inferior to the above data. (Please refer to "Lightfastness of color-matched ink" for the details.)
  4. The colors which are indicated in gray column are different in shades or way of numbering from the standard ones.
  5. All fluorescent colors are bad in lightfastness(x) and fade in a week.
  6. Generally speaking "lightfastness" means the estimation against light, while "weathering resistance" means that against weathering conditions. "Lightfastness" in this chart also means "weathering resistance".
  7. It is necessary to use over-coat varnish, lamination or printing on the back side of transparent material, when lightfastness over 3 years is required.
  8. (LF) means that the colors with this indication are lightfast version. Please refer to Lightfastness List for the lightfastness of each color. The indication, "LF", does not show on the label of the container.
  9. Please refer to Technical information for the usage, MSDS for precautions.
