Mirror-like surface by printing on the back side of the transparent film. Silver, rich gold, pale gold.

INTRODUCTIONS

META-MIRROR is evaporative drying type of ink which gives mirror-like surface by printing on the back side of the transparent substrates.
PC Silver and YK Silver for polycarbonate has newly become available. Mirror-effect on polycarbonate made by conventional mirror ink was not as good as that was made on other materials.
PC Silver and YK Silver produces excellent mirror-effect and its high viscosity and slow-drying make printing much easier.

APPLICATIONS

Transparent plastics such as treated PET film, polycarbonate or acryl. The ink must be printed on the back side of the substrate.
Industrial applications are recommended.

AVAILABLE COLORS & TYPE OF PACKING

TYPE COLORS CHARACTERISTICS TYPE OF PACKING
Standard Silver excellent mirror-like surface 0.5kg-plastic-container(Other types of package are available.)
Rich gold
Pale gold
Slow drying PC Silver high-viscosity excellent mirror-like surface for polycarbonate and acryl hign coverage.
YK Silver high viscosity excellent mirror-like surface only for polycarbonate good adhesion.

HOW TO USE

Fabric

  • standard type – 270-300 meshes/inch.
  • slow drying type – 270-350 meshes/inch.

Thinner

Thinner is not normally necessary. Stir well before use.
When lower viscosity is required, add Styrol thinner(fast drying) to obtain proper viscosity.
Use MM thinner for PC Silver and YK Silver instead of Styrol thinner.

Drying

  • PC, PVC, PMMA : Room temperature after 10 minutes by cold wind of dryer:
  • Treated PET : 80°C(176°F) for 15 minutes or 60°C(140°F) for 20 minutes.

Although the ink dries at room temperature(approx. 30min.), the effect is inferior to forced dried finish.

Tack-free time

  Substrate – Treated PET(188microns), Mesh – T270, Room temperature (20°C)(68°F)

  • standard type : Approx.13 minutes at room temp
  • slow drying type : Approx.30 minutes at room temp

Washing up

  Use Vinyl Cleaning Thinner.

COVERAGE

  • PC Silver : 40-70 m²/kg (270-350 meshes/inch)
  • Other slow drying type : 30-50 m²/kg (270-350 meshes/inch)
  • standard type : 20-40 m²/kg (270-300 meshes/inch)

PRECAUTIONS

  1. When the surface of the substrate is not flat(ex.matt or textured materials) or its transparency is not good, sufficient mirror-like effect cannot be obtained. Fast drying is recommended for better finish.
PC Silver is recommended for the substrates with poor solvent resistance like polycarbonate, although mirror-effect may be degraded by forced drying. In this case, be sure to dry the ink with cold wind.
Sufficient mirror-like finish may not be obtained depending on the printing conditions such as thickness of the ink, substrates, temperature or humidity. Please do pre-test and check the finish before commercial run.
  2. The adhesion of META-MIRROR INK to untreated PET is not good. The adhesion to some kind of acryl may not be good.
  3. If backing is printed, use our 800 SERIES PAS INK , 8100 SERIES SNAP INK or UV curable ink.
3100 SERIES FM INK (2-pack-type) is recommended for insert-molding. These ink series do not spoil mirror effect. The adhesion between META-MIRROR INK and above inks is not so good.
  4. If this ink is used repeatedly, mirror-like surface gradually degrades. Please add new ink for adjustment. Used ink must be separated from new ink.
  5. If the ink is used under the environment of high humidity, mirror-effect is degraded. Blur, pin-holes, unevenness, clogging and gelling may occur due to high humidity. As water mist gives the worst effect, do not use humidifier in the working area. Please keep the humidity under 60%.(The lower, the best.) Once the quality of the ink degrades, it does not return to the original condition even though thinner is added.
  6. As this product is expensive, we cannot supply free samples. Various types of package are available(ex. 1 kg, 0.2 kg, 0.1kg).
  7. The color shades other than standard ones can be matched.
  8. Some other products are under development. Please make an inquiry to our sales department for the details.
  9. Please refer to MSDS before use.
  10. Be sure to do trial print before commercial run to confirm that the product fits the purposes.
